ALL—There will be a special meeting on Tuesday, May 22 starting at 7:30pm in the Bliss Room of Montgomery College to discuss the College’s expansion plans, in particular proposed changes which they will be submitting to the Planning Board later this week. I plan to testify on behalf of our Association at the Planning Board’s May 31 Mandatory Referral Hearing, and this meeting will provide an opportunity to be briefed by the College on their latest plans. Following the College’s presentation and a question and answer period, we will discuss expansion issues which are important to our neighborhood at which time I would like your input and consent on issues which will be addressed in our testimony.

This meeting is in response to a request to College representatives at our meeting last Wednesday for more information. At that meeting, the College indicated that it was changing the footprint of the Cultural Arts Center in Jesup Blair Park and some other related changes to address issues raised about their current design. These changes will impact not only the Park, but also the bridge over the Metro, the Fenton Street realignment, and the Student Services Center on Fenton and Chicago Avenue.
